Update on our progress

We have completed our home study and we passed, Woo Hoo!!!! Now we are just waiting on some final documentation so we can get things notarized and sent off to the state for authentication. We are also waiting on the overall costs to be determined. We certainly are not worried about how God can meet that need but we do want a number in mind for our fundraiser. There is no way to know if a prayer is answered if it's not specific enough to begin with. We are excited and still focused on doing what we have been asked to do, be open to adopting whomever comes from His hand.

Why Russia? continued

The Russian government has more than 1 million orphans in their care due to the economic and social conditions inside their country. In Pskov, Russia alone, over 150 children are turned over to the state each month. It is sometimes the only choice a mother has if she cannot feed or cloth them appropriately. Unfortunately half of these children will not reach age 21. Our Sovereign God has invited us to adopt 1, 2 or even 3 related orphans from this region. We will be traveling to Pskov, Russia this summer or fall to bring these children out of the institution and into a family that God will use to show His love to them. Please join us in prayer to meet the needs of these children and the required funding to bring these children home.

A Walk-A-Thon

We would like to invite everyone to our fundraiser on April 25th at Freedom Park, a Walk-A-Thon. More details will be posted but to begin with some highlights are listed below.

Saturday, April 25th, 9am - 1pm
Freedom Park, Charlotte
Lunch will be available
A raffle drawing will take place
Each participant is encouraged to get sponsorships for walking, forms will be posted shortly for sponsoring donations. All donations given through Christian World Adoption can be tax deductible. There is no distance required for the walk-a-thon. It is just a time for fellowship and fun for friends and family while hopefully raising money for a good cause. We hope to hear from you and more importantly see you in April.

Why Russia?

I wanted to give everyone an idea of the journey we are on and the steps we will be taking on it. The first question we receive often is, why Russia? Cheryl and I are both short term missionaries. Cheryl has traveled to Cuba and Brazil to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the people while I've traveled to Romania for the same reason. Each of us has come home with torn hearts for the children we met during the trips there, knowing that so many have so little while we have so much. Russia came to our mind because we wanted the children to assimilate into our family easier than from other cultures.
